A Bouncer At An Elite Nightclub Discovers Why Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms And Signs Can Save A Drinker's Life

Just a week ago, Ryan applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local nightclubs. He had studied gatka, ninjitsu, judo, karate, and aikido for eight years; he was a weight lifter; he took daily minerals, supplements, and vitamins; he was into health foods and healthy eating; and he seemed well suited for such a job. When Ryan got notification that he had been selected for the job, he was very satisfied. Due to the fact that this was a special nightclub, however, he had to go through a three week instructional class.

On the first day of class, the instructor started talking about individuals who drink in an abusive manner and what the bouncers, bartenders, and barmaids should do when this situation arises. When the teacher started discussing alcohol poisoning, Ryan was delighted to learn that all of the new employees had to learn about an alcohol overdose and precisely what they should do when they observed a drinker who was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms or displaying the signs of alcohol poisoning.

More explicitly, all the new employees learned that nausea and vomiting were almost without exception one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was conceivably the most highly perceptible alcohol poisoning symptom or sign. The instructor went out of his way to emphasize the fact that alcohol poisoning symptoms were signals from the brain and from the body that the individual had consumed more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.

There were, however, more than a few other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new employees were taught to be aware of. For example, the class members learned that people with alcohol poisoning exhibit confusion, often have seizures, are difficult to awaken, and they exhibit poor reflex responses.

Not only this but, the members of the class were made aware that many individuals who suffer from alcohol poisoning also manifest slow, shallow or irregular breathing; slurred speech; blue tinged or pale skin; and little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching.

To underscore the impact that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the lecturer told the class that an individual who gets intoxicated just once annually is, by definition, engaging in alcohol abuse. Such a person, however, is in all probability not an alcoholic, but is probably engaging in binge drinking. As stated by the lecturer, engaging in binge drinking even one time, sadly, can result in an alcohol overdose that in some instances can be lethal.

The instructor then told the members of the class that the best response for an alcohol overdose is the following: if it is assumed that an individual has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the drinker is underage. By taking this course of action, the person will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention she or he requires.

After learning about alcohol poisoning and especially about the signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning, it may be pointed out, Ryan realized that he had learned some valuable information that might save an individual's life in the distant future. As a matter of fact, Ryan learned that knowledge of the mainstream alcohol poisoning signs and symptoms and knowing how to properly and quickly react to such symptoms and signs (by immediately calling 911 and asking for urgent medical assistance) can help an individual avoid a lethal case of alcohol poisoning.
