A Teen Confronts Her Drinking Buddies To Find Out More About Alcohol Abuse And Alcohol Addiction

Heather drank quite heavily on a regular basis with her drinking pals. One Tuesday after all her classes were completed, she began thinking about the amount of alcohol she drank on a fairly regular basis and the irresponsible and abusive drinking of her pals. As a result of this, she respectfully asked all of her drinking pals the following question: "what do we really know about binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, alcoholism, and alcohol abuse? Stated differently, how much alcoholism and alcohol abuse information do we truly know? For our young age, we obviously drink a lot and I am beginning to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-associated problems when we become older.

I think we need to go online and learn all that is possible about alcoholism, alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, and alcohol abuse. And then if we have any issues that we cannot understand after we finish our online research, we can go to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Furlong to help us understand what we do not know.

It should not come as a complete surprise that what Heather articulated would lead to a heated discussion. As an illustration, her best friend since her junior year in high school, Yasmin, stated that they are too young and too healthy to be concerned about excessive and irresponsible drinking. Another classmate named Alexander reasoned that since most college students drink there is no solid reason why they should be any different. Another drinking pal named Keira stated that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her buddies. And still another drinking pal named Dane in reality agreed with Heather primarily because his parents were both alcohol abusers and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related problems.

Heather revealed to her classmates that she comprehended everything that they had said but that engaging in abusive and unhealthy drinking at such an early age in truth cannot be very healthy or something that contributes toward establishing a meaningful life. When two or three of her buddies asked what kind of alcohol problems Heather was referring to, Heather listed the following: alcohol-related problems like alcoholism, alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances) and alcohol-related diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and cirrhosis of the liver.

When Heather then articulated that abusive and careless drinking often results in relationship, financial, school, and legal problems, some of her drinking friends finally began to understand how far reaching and how debilitating abusive and unhealthy drinking can be. Undeniably some of her buddies became more open and started to disclose how these alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse effects had affected some of their friends and their parents.

After going over some of the alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse problems that are related to abusive and unhealthy drinking, the majority of her buddies seemed to agree to the idea about getting information on the web. They were, however, apprehensive about discussing their drinking situations with any of the teachers at school. As Heather reflected on this she whispered to herself, "at least they want to learn more about their unhealthy and abusive drinking. This is an excellent start."
