Iscar right now offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that combine the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the increased strength of the new Sumo Tec insert grades.

The conception, already confirmed effective in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been spread to slitting cutters. In the patented Tang-Grip clamping system, inserts are press-fit into their pockets with a specific hand tool, and are held solidly in place without the need for clamps, upper jaws or set screws that can weaken the insert and obstruct chip flow. Unveiled in late '07, the unique Sumo Tec treatment flattens the insert's coated surface to eliminate microscopic stress raisers, diminish heat and friction and improve chip flow. The result is enhanced toughness and opposition to chipping and built-up edge, all leading to longer tool lifespan. The golden-colored flank on Sumo Tec inserts eases wear detection. Size for size, Tangslit cutters give more teeth than Iscar's SGSF cutters, enabling higher feed rates.
